Sun-Painted

I wake in that thin hunger
that eats itself
a lion outcast
by a relentless night.

A ragged dawn emaciates me.
The sky covers me
a rankness of bones
broken into daylight.

You find me and we weep
in our famine of want,
clothe ourselves in this flesh
of a visible poetry
sun-painted on earth dust.
